[PRESS RELEASE] For immediate release / Vantaa, Finland

Gasmet Technologies announces their CMM system for mercury emission monitoring is now officially QAL1-certified to perform automatic QAL3 tests without the need for external laboratories. This certified solution simplifies operators’ processes, cuts costs, and contributes to cleaner air.

Gasmet Technologies, a technology group from Finland, designs and manufactures advanced gas analysis systems and emission monitoring solutions for global market.

Why Mercury Monitoring Matters

Mercury is a long-range pollutant that accumulates in the environment and food chain, posing serious health risks. Recognized by the WHO as one of the top ten chemicals of major public health concern, mercury emissions are tightly regulated across industries such as waste-to-energy, coal combustion, and cement production. Continuous monitoring is essential to ensure compliance and promote environmental responsibility.

Gasmet’s Unique Solution

Quality Assurance Level 3 (QAL3) involves regular checks using zero and span tests to ensure monitoring systems remain accurate and reliable over time. Recent updates to EN14884 and EN15267-3 standards allow the use of both ionic and elemental mercury for QAL3 checks.

Gasmet’s CMM system, now QAL1-certified by MCERTS for QAL3 capability, includes an elemental test gas generator for regular QAL3 testing. The CMM system received the updated QAL1 certificate in June 2025, ensuring regular automated zero and span checks are included.

Gasmet’s CMM system now includes an integrated, certified span test gas generator for elemental mercury (Hg⁰), and, in the CMM AutoQAL, also for ionic mercury (Hg²⁺). This allows fully automatic QAL3 checks in line with EN14181, eliminating the need for third-party services or auxiliary hardware.

Jyrki Korpela, Director of Product Management at Gasmet, states,

We wanted to make QAL3 testing as effortless and reliable as possible for our customers. As the industry evolves, the Gasmet CMM stands as the benchmark for continuous mercury monitoring. We offer a system that’s easy to use, maintain, and trust.

Cost Savings and Compliance with Gasmet’s CMM System

Operators can avoid external QAL3 validation costs and minimize system downtime. With the lowest certified measurement range in the world (5 µg/m³) and a modular design optimized for uptime and serviceability, Gasmet’s CMM system is trusted by operators across Europe and beyond. The integrated QAL3 solution can save operators up to €100,000 over 10 years, while ensuring uninterrupted compliance and peace of mind.

Nenne Nordström, CEO of Gasmet, says

At Gasmet, we are committed to empowering the world to strive for clean air with our reliable gas monitoring solutions. This certification reinforces our position as a technology leader also in mercury monitoring. We’re proud to offer a solution that makes environmental compliance easier and more cost-efficient, while setting a new standard for usability.

Gasmet invites industrial operators, regulators, and environmental professionals to explore how the CMM system can simplify compliance, reduce costs, and improve environmental performance.
