Gasmet Technologies is participating in the METECH project coordinated by VTT, which aims to develop accurate and reliable emission measurement solutions for studying the emission impacts of new low‑emission fuels. The project’s goal is to ensure that harmful gas and particulate emissions affecting climate and air quality can be measured accurately even in demanding field conditions.

Gasmet contributes to the project by bringing its strong expertise in delivering laboratory‑grade measurement accuracy directly to field applications, enabling more reliable and comparable results in real‑world environments.

New low‑emission fuels require more accurate measurements

The energy, marine, aviation and off‑road machinery sectors are rapidly transitioning toward low‑emission fuels. This shift demands more comprehensive and precise emission monitoring to assess the true environmental impact of these new technologies.

The METECH project is developing methods and instrumentation that enable reliable measurement of harmful gas and particle components — including methane (CH₄), nitrous oxide (N₂O), ammonia (NH₃), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), ultrafine particles, and black carbon — in real operating environments. CH₄ and N₂O are of particular importance due to their significant climate impact and tightening future regulations.

Gasmet strengthens the project with FTIR expertise

Gasmet contributes to the METECH project with its extensive experience in multi‑component gas analysis and field‑ready FTIR‑based measurement systems. Gasmet’s solutions are designed to deliver accurate, real‑time data on a wide range of pollutants, even when concentrations are extremely low and operating conditions demanding.

The METECH project provides a significant opportunity for us to develop the next generation of emission measurement solutions together with leading research and industry partners. Our goal is to ensure that new low‑emission technologies can be validated reliably—even when emissions occur at extremely low concentrations and in challenging environments.

A strategic investment in future‑proof solutions

The METECH project supports the transition toward a zero‑emission future and strengthens the competitive advantage of Finnish companies operating in global markets.

Collaborating in projects like METECH is an essential part of who we are. We strongly believe that the most impactful solutions emerge where science, technology and industry meet. By participating in initiatives like this, we contribute to shaping the future—we want to be actively involved in developing increasingly precise, intelligent and sustainable solutions that support a low‑emission society in the long term.
