R&D Engineer, Systems

We are now looking for

R&D Engineer, Systems

This is a permanent full-time role where you’ll contribute to the development of advanced gas measurement equipment and work across multiple engineering fields. While a basic knowledge of electrical engineering is needed, curiosity and versatility across disciplines will be key to your success.

As an R&D Engineer at Gasmet, your work will be hands-on, varied, and impactful. You will:

  • Build and test prototypes, create test setups, and validate designs in our own laboratory
  • Collaborate with colleagues from optics, electronics, chemistry, mechanics, automation, software, and IoT
  • Support production and other departments throughout the product lifecycle
  • Continuously expand your expertise, with the opportunity to become a specialist in this unique and growing field of science

At Gasmet, R&D is about more than design — we take our ideas from concept to production in-house. You’ll see the results of your work in real-world applications, helping industries and communities meet environmental challenges. We guarantee that you won’t spend a day with us without learning something new.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Take ownership of system-level design for continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) and help guide projects with a practical mindset
  • Get hands-on with assembling, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting system hardware — with electronics tasks adjusted to your skill level
  • Make sure our products meet customer and company requirements
  • Act as a technical lead for new product development within your area
  • Contribute to design updates, documentation changes, and component-level improvements when needed
  • Support purchasing by reviewing hardware components and identifying suitable replacements
  • Communicate regularly with colleagues across product management, procurement, production, service, and quality teams
  • Create and maintain documentation for your product family

What helps you succeed here

  • Background in electrical engineering, applied electronics, mechatronics, or a related field (BSc/MSc or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Basic familiarity with electronics or willingness to learn
  • Ability to read electrical drawings. Familiarity with electronics schematics is seen as a plus
  • Curiosity and a hands-on approach to solving problems
  • Willingness to collaborate, communicate and coordinate clearly with different teams
  • Comfortable working in English, both spoken and written
  • Openness to occasional travel

And if you bring any of these, that’s a great bonus:

  • Experience with measurement equipment
  • Practical electronics experience — such as PCB testing, replacing components, or working with suppliers
  • Background in device or mechanical manufacturing
  • Technical hobbies or projects you’re proud of

We offer you

  • Role in a friendly, mid-size team where everybody knows each other and is located under the same roof
  • Permanent full-time work in an international and inspiring work environment
  • A unique place to work with the best technology in the industry
  • Flexible working hours with dynamic and skilled colleagues in a growing company
  • Modern work environment in Vantaa Piispankylä
