GT6000 Mobilis FTIR gas analyzer – Frequently Asked Questions

Are you looking for answers about the GT6000 Mobilis portable FTIR gas analyzer and its trusted companion, our portable sampling system? We’ve compiled the 11 most frequently asked questions to help you better understand its capabilities, applications, and features. Whether you’re a seasoned user or considering adding it to your toolkit, this article covers everything you need to know about our versatile analyzer.

GT6000 Mobilis FAQ: Everything you need to know

1. What kind of measurements is the GT6000 Mobilis suitable for?

The GT6000 Mobilis is an extractive FTIR-based gas analyzer, heated to 180 °C. This makes it suitable for measuring hot, wet, and corrosive gas streams. Typical applications include:

The analyzer is designed for portable use in demanding conditions and has the required robustness for field measurements in varying conditions. It is also fully suitable for long-term measurements. In stack testing, the GT6000 Mobilis excels at trickier sites, such as waste incinerators and large combustion plants, where a large number of gases must be measured simultaneously.

2. Which gases can be measured with the GT6000 Mobilis?

The beauty of the GT6000 Mobilis is that the analyzer allows simultaneous measurements of up to 50 gases, on the go. It can actually be used to measure hundreds of gases, ranging from typical greenhouse gases and industrial pollutants to toxic gases released from damaged lithium-ion batteries. We have many fine-tuned gas libraries for the typical use cases of the analyzer.

For example, the typical stack emission library that we provide comes with the following gases:

Water H2O Hydrogen chloride HCl
Carbon dioxide CO2 Hydrogen fluoride HF
Carbon monoxide CO Formaldehyde CH2O
Methane CH4 Ethane C2H6
Nitrous oxide N2O Ethylene C2H4
Ammonia NH3 Propane C3H8
Nitrogen monoxide NO Hexane C6H14
Nitrogen dioxide NO2 Methanol CH4O
Sulfur dioxide SO2

3. Is it possible to identify unknown or unexpected gases?

Yes! Our powerful Calcmet Expert software can be equipped with the Identification Tool, you can search for a match when there are unresolved peaks in your sample spectrum, and add the new gas to the analysis immediately.

4. Is the GT6000 Mobilis QAL1 certified?

The GT6000 Mobilis is EN 15267-4 QAL1 certified (MCERTS).  The certificate includes the following 11 gases: CO, NO, NO2, N2O, HCl, NH3, O2, CO2, H2O, CH4 and CH2O. The certified ranges are in line with the latest waste incineration BREF.

5. Is the GT6000 Mobilis suitable for regulated emission monitoring?

While the local authorities always have the last word, the GT6000 Mobilis is widely accepted for regulated periodic emission monitoring, including compliance measurements. It is MCERTS certified in line with the EN 15267-4, and has the Korean PA certificate.

While FTIR is not a Standard Reference Method (SRM) for most gases it is certified for, it is a validated Alternative Method (AM) as described in EN 14793.

6. Is regular maintenance or annual calibration of the GT6000 Mobilis required by Gasmet or local distributors?

In order to keep your GT6000 Mobilis optimized and in great condition, we highly recommend annual maintenance, which includes water calibration. Find your nearest distributor on our contact page:

7. What about the portable sampling system?

Our portable sampling systems, PSS Plus and PSS Base, complement the GT6000 Mobilis. Together, the analyzer and the sampling unit form a complete emission monitoring system. Like the analyzer, the PSS is heated to 180 °C and is designed for field-ready robustness and portability.

The modular design, where the analyzer and the sampling unit are separate units, allows ease of use in tight spaces as well as maximum portability.

8. What are the differences between PSS Plus and PSS Base?

Both PSS Plus and Base come with all of the basics of continuous heated sampling, including a heated particulate filter as well as a power supply for heated lines. PSS Plus has additional features for advanced measurements: oxygen measurement (MCERTS certified), sample flow status signal and integrated rotameters for instrument air and zero gas flow control. There is also a possibility to connect instrument air for safety and purging, saving N2.

9. How much does the GT6000 Mobilis cost?

This depends on your gas monitoring needs: the number of gases you wish to measure and the accessories you need are taken into account when calculating a quote.
