Kun n\u00e4ytekaasu tulee n\u00e4ytekyvettiin, UV-valo viritt\u00e4\u00e4 kaasun elohopea-atomit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heti t\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen<\/strong> virittyneet Hg-atomit emittoivat absorboituneen energian uudelleen, mit\u00e4 kutsutaan fluoresenssiksi. Fluoresenssivalo on suuntaamatonta, eli sit\u00e4 emittoituu joka suuntaan. T\u00e4m\u00e4n vuoksi tunnistin asetetaan yleens\u00e4 90\u00a0asteen kulmaan valonl\u00e4hteest\u00e4, jotta voidaan varmistaa, ett\u00e4 vain fluoresenssivalo tunnistetaan. Tunnistin on fotonilaskurimoduuli, joka tunnistaa vain Hg-atomeista tulevat fotonit.<\/p>\n<p>CVAF on eritt\u00e4in selektiivinen ja herkk\u00e4 tekniikka, mik\u00e4 mahdollistaa \u00e4\u00e4rimm\u00e4isen pienten elohopeapitoisuuksien tarkan mittauksen.
